I feel that Linda Chen's letter 'Why the double-standard, DAP?' (Jan 11) is very naive with regards to her comparison of Goh Kheng Huat and Gorbind Singh Deo.

Let's face it, Linda, you're dealing with the real world, and being the son of some big party fellow counts for something. Otherwise, who wants to be a big fellow and who wants to be the son of a big fellow?

After all, what has Goh Kheng Huat achieved except getting elected in his constituency? As Karpal Singh says, it was DAP that got Goh elected, even though, unfortunately, DAP could not get Karpal elected.

Karpal's argument is also a reflection of the real world - if you're a big party leader, you can say an asinine thing and no one in the party would dare oppose you.
