One reads with great interest the news that security officials and student affairs officers from local universities will be present in Perlis to monitor the activities of student activists involved in the Indera Kayangan by-election.

Firstly, is such a task within the job description of these officers or are they doing more than what is required of them? Will they be paid overtime for such extra duties and who will pay for their out-station expenses?

Secondly, if The Sun is to be believed, these officers will only be going after the students rooting for the opposition. What about those supporting the ruling Barisan Nasional government? Aren't these officers required to take action against all student political activists?

I hope these officers will not be biased in their work. I await to see the outcome of their good work!
