Samy Velu has said that segregating school children in schools is not racial. Can he please then explain what segregation is?

Malaysia practises racial segregation in many ways - the New Economic Policy for one. And now they have started with schools.

When questioned about it, Parents and Teachers Association (PTA) chairmen and headmasters give dumb answers. Apparently the segregation was to facilitate religious classes and moral lessons.

When I was in school in the early 70s, we had religious knowledge (Christian) classes, agama (Islam), and mother-tongue language classes. Despite this, teachers could mix us around and we were only streamed according to merit or science and arts stream.

How can the Education Minister Musa Mohamed claim not to know anything.

When the examination syndicate asked candidates to state their religion on their exam papers, he was not aware.

When top students did not get places in the local universities, he did know. How come?

When two examiners - who were suppose to send the completed examination papers for marking immediately - spent a night in a hotel and the papers were stolen, he did not know why they did not follow the procedure.

He then had the cheek to challenge NUTP secretary-general Siva Subramaniam to release the names of schools involved in the recent racial segregation debacle.

Well, NUTP has given the names. What now, Musa?

He blames NUTP for not raising it with him when they knew about it. What are the education officers in the district and state level doing?

But then again this is Barisan National's racial integration policy. Even, with bumiputras, they separate Malays from non-Malay bumiputras.
