I presume John R Malott is the same person who served as US ambassador to Malaysia some years ago. I often read his letters to malaysiakini .

As a loyal and enlightened Malaysian, I am moved and encouraged that despite having retired from his ambassadorial position, Malott still takes a keen personal interest in Malaysia with particular reference to democracy and human rights. It is true friends like him that will help Malaysia move towards the right path.

I am also inspired that John will not let the criticism of petty minds dissuade him from speaking the truth with vigour. May many democratic-minded Malaysians emulate Malott's example.
