Malaysians have become somewhat used to the idea that there must be truth to what is said, and have to a very large extent accepted that if Anwar Ibrahim cannot be out o­n bail it's due to 'national security'. The same goes to all those languishing in Kamunting for some reason or another.

I refer to Mustapha o­ng's letter castigating Harry Lee of Malaysia's "insensitive remarks" in his reference to the recent interview of Dr Mahathir Mohamad with Al-Jazeera pertaining to the US-led war against Iraq.

It was with frightful consternation that I read the response of Foreign Minister Syed Hamid Albar to the arrest of Indian professionals.
